Last 5th and 6th of October, at the Mariage au Carrousel<\/em><\/a>‘s exhibition in Paris, the F\u00e9d\u00e9ration des cr\u00e9ateurs parisiens en couture sur mesure<\/em>, who have launched the label Sign\u00e9 Couture<\/em><\/a>, offered brides-to-be the opportunity to have their dream wedding dress drawn before their eyes!! The Mariage section of our magazine could not miss this chance and we asked Nabil Hayari<\/a>, from HAYARI Couture Paris<\/a>, to sketch our perfect wedding dress!!<\/p>\n

\"Nos<\/a><\/p>\n

OUR WISHES<\/span>
\nIn order to start a sketch, a couture designer like Nabil Hayari needs the bride-to-be’s wish list. Audrey Achekian and myself, from the mariage section, wanted a mermaid-like dress, with buttoning at the back, asymmetrical strap(s), transparancies and chantilly lace…to achieve an elegant vintage bucolic look. Although we did not want any wedding veil, we explored the idea of a headband…<\/p>\n

Because, most often, the desires and wants of a bride-to-be do not all combine elegantly,\u00a0Nabil Hayari started with what is called a “rough sketch”: The designer makes choices amongst the bride-to-be wish list to capture the spirit of the dress and adapt it to her features. The “rough sketch” is drawn within minutes to summarise the style of the dress and meet the bride-to-be’s first expectations. Many sketches exploring the details of the dress, will follow, until the colouring stage of the final drawing. Only then will the bride-to-be made-to-measure canvas mold be made, in full respect of French haute couture’s traditions and savoir-faire!!<\/p>\n

\nTHE ROUGH SKETCH<\/span>
\nNabil Hayari started with the top of the dress, leaving a shoulder bare while the other one was draped into some precious fabric. Our asymmetrical look was born…<\/p>\n

\"Une<\/a><\/p>\n

A MERMAID DRESS<\/span>
\nNabil Hayari then drew the outline of a mermaid, all the way downs the hips, as we wished for…<\/p>\n

TRANSPARENCIES<\/span>
\nThe designer then started playing with transparencies along the legs<\/p>\n

\"De<\/a><\/p>\n

CHANTILLY LACE FOR A VINTAGE LOOK<\/span><\/p>\n

Chantilly lace was added to the bottom of the dress to achieve a vintage look.<\/p>\n

EMBROIDERIES EMBROIDERIES…<\/span><\/p>\n

Transparency details were added to the dress’ bustier and embroideries were cleverly scattered here and there…<\/p>\n

MORE DETAILS<\/span>
\nA few more details: a chantilly lace embroidered hat came in, and suddenly the dress came to life, sparkling like a thousand stars!! Nabil Hayari’s trademark…<\/p>\n

AND HERE’S THE RESULT!<\/span>
\nA wonderful mermaid wedding dress which combined elegance with a vintage look in a swirl of laces lit by Nabil Hayri’s ultimate touch!<\/p>\n

A SECOND VERSION<\/span>
\nNabil Hayari also drew a second version of our dress: extra chantilly lace and 2 fine embroidered straps leaving the arms bare… We loved both and just couldn’t choose!!<\/p>\n

ABOUT THE LABEL<\/span> Sign\u00e9 Couture<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Nabil Hayari is a member of the F\u00e9d\u00e9ration des couturiers parisiens eu couture sur mesure<\/em>, which launched the label Sign\u00e9 Couture in april 2011.<\/p>\n

The federation aims at preserving French Couture’ savoir-faire and traditions, while promoting Parisian couture designers on the national and international scenes.<\/p>\n

The label Sign\u00e9 Couture Paris aims at differentiating the real made-to-measure couture designs from the others within an industry that oversuses and misuses clich\u00e9d terms to achieve sales. As the federation likes to specify:\u00a0 ” for each new design, a true couture designer presents a drawing, produces a made-to-measure canvas “mold” at the client’ size, and actually creates the dress within the Parisian area. A dozen models shall be presented to the client who will be advised by the designer himself during each fitting session.”<\/p>\n
